(Undated-AP) -- Michiganian Shane Battier of Duke and Notre Dame's Ruth Riley are getting the Naismith Awards for the top college basketball players in the country.
Battier is a six-foot-foot senior forward from Birmingham. He's the first male player to receive the Naismith prep and college player of the year awards.
His Blue Devils won the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament and are top seed in the N-C-A-A East Regional.
Battier is a former Michigan Mr. Basketball and standout at Detroit Country Day High School.
At six-five, senior center Riley is the tallest female player in Notre Dame history. She's been one of the nation's leading shot-blockers the last two seasons.
