(Tulsa-AP) -- A lawsuit filed against Tulsa Public Schools by the founder of a defunct charter school has been dropped.
Milton T. Goodwin is the founder of the W-E-B DuBois Academy. Goodwin had sought at least five (m) million dollars in damages in a federal lawsuit he filed in September.
Goodwin claimed school officials were behind his dismissal as superintendent of the school. But the school district said Goodwin was not denied any right guaranteed by the Constitution or federal law.
A federal judge gave Goodwin 15 days to amend his complaint. Instead, the case was dropped.
State law permits charter schools to be started if a public school agrees to sponsor it. The school board decided in September that DuBois had violated its contract with the district.
