LONDON (AP) â€” A top British entertainment magazine has crowned Paul Newman the greatest leading man of all time.

Radio Times magazine asked a panel of film experts to rate 10 actors by their power at the box office, Oscars, acting qualities, marriage appeal and headline-grabbing abilities.

Tom Hanks finished second behind Newman, his co-star in the upcoming film, ``The Road to Perdition.'' James Stewart was third, the magazine reported on Tuesday, followed by Harrison Ford, Marlon Brando, Cary Grant, Robert Redford, Tom Cruise and Sean Connery (tied for eighth place) and Gary Cooper.

A readers' poll, conducted via the magazine's Web site, put Sir Sean Connery at the top of the list.
