(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Republicans in the state Legislature see their gains in number as an indication that voters support their tax cutting plans.

Democratic leaders say there's not enough extra money for big tax cuts, plus increases in funding for education, roads and corrections. And while the G-O-P has increased its legislative strength, Democrats are still in the majority in both the state House and Senate.

House Republican leader Representative Fred Morgan of Oklahoma City says the loss of elections by Democrats could lead to tax cuts. Morgan says voters sent a message saying they want the cuts.

But Democratic Senator Cal Hobson of Lexington says the state has financial obligations and must pay its bills first.
