(Tulsa-AP) -- Tulsa Mayor Susan Savage says a study of mass transit in the region will begin next month.

Savage is asking the Indian Nations Council of Governments to join in the study that she says will use a 1999 review of Tulsa Transit operations. That review says the transit system has numerous problems, including the lack of a well defined mission.

Savage says she's asked the Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority to consider expanding its membership to other cities.

Tulsa City Councilor and I-N-C-O-G member Gary Watts says it's appropriate for Tulsa Transit to expand to a regional basis.
