TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Tulsa police have arrested a man on complaints of negligent homicide and driving under the influence after his involvement in a fatal car accident.
Officers took Milo Peterson, 35, into custody late Wednesday after he lost control of his Porsche Boxster and it crashed into an antique store. Shawn Harris, a passenger, died at St. John Medical Center after doctors worked for more than an hour to save him, Officer Lucky Lamons said.
The pair had come out of the Slow Duck Saloon and left in Peterson's car, Lamons said Thursday.
"Peterson exited eastbound 15th Street, almost striking a car, and then accelerated to an estimated 50 mph in a 30 mph zone and struck a parked Ford Mustang, pushing that vehicle forward 29 feet.
The car careened left and then clipped a Jeep," Lamons said.
The Boxster jumped the curb and struck a hydrant, which ripped through the front fender and the passenger floorboard, he said. The vehicle then spun left, striking a telephone pole, and continued into Jared's Inc. antique store.
Peterson, who sustained only a minor cut, was jailed, police said.
The store's owner, Bruce Shultz, said the crash broke a few lamps and caused some structural damage.
