SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Pets.com Inc., which ceased operations last month, announced Monday its intent to sell its domain name and related trademarks to another online pet supply retailer, PETsMart Inc.
The company signed a nonbinding letter of intent to sell various Internet addresses, including www.pets.com. Users who type that address will now be directed to the PETsMART.com site.
The sale will not include any other aspects of the now defunct San Francisco-based online retailer, such as its customer list and the popular Sock Puppet character, the company said.
The purchase price was not disclosed, but Pets.com expects the transaction to be finalized within a month.
Pets.com announced Nov. 7 it was ceasing operations, selling its assets and laying off most of its 320 employees.
