(Wagoner-AP) -- Renovations are long over due at the Wagoner County courthouse. But things are now progressing rather nicely.
The courthouse is on schedule to be renovated. Construction will likely start on an adjoining office building in two weeks. And a bid to build the new jail is expected to come through in a few more months.
Voters are already paying for the project. They overwhelmingly approved a county sales tax last year to fund the project.
County commissioner Allen Farley says officials had hoped to get the project started this past summer. He says not enough construction firms bid on the project, which caused delays.
Farley says the total project will cost a little over $5 million dollars. Officials say the courthouse renovation and office building should be completed in less than a year.
