(Miami, Oklahoma-AP) -- A Wyandotte man accused in the death of his girlfriend's one-year-old daughter has pleaded innocent to a first-degree murder charge.
Twenty-two-year-old Jason Robbins entered his plea yesterday in Ottawa County District Court.
Robbins was arrested October sixth at a Joplin, Missouri, hospital on a child abuse complaint. A murder warrant was issued after Destiny Williby died the following morning at another hospital in Springfield.
The Ottawa County sheriff's office says hospital staffers found a soft spot on her head and bruises on her body that weren't consistent with a fall.
Robbins told authorities he saw the child standing on the back of a couch and yelled at her. He says she then fell and hit her head.
Robbins is being held without bail. His preliminary hearing is set for November ninth.
