(Undated-AP) -- Authorities say a 31-year-old Nowata man has been killed in an accident north of Oologah in Rogers County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the vehicle that caused the accident that killed Maurice Sweeney never stopped.

Trooper say the unknown vehicle tried to pass the car Sweeney was driving on Interstate 169 but didn't have sufficient room to do so. The vehicle re-entered the lane, forcing Sweeney's car onto the grass shoulder.

Troopers say Sweeney's car came back onto the highway, but was out of control and went into the opposite lane of traffic and hit a car driven by a Kansas woman.

Troopers say Sweeney was pronounced dead at the scene. Cynthia Wright is in a Tulsa hospital.

The accident occurred about 7:15 Wednesday night.
