(Glencoe-AP) -- Grass fires around Stillwater have been doused and fire crews are no longer working them.
That's according to the battalion fire chief with the Stillwater Fire Department.
Larry Thomas says the situation is looking up as long as residents stay in their homes quote ``not doing anything crazy.''
Thomas says the department dealt with four separate fires yesterday afternoon -- three of them were major.
At least four homes were destroyed in the Stillwater-area fires.
At least two-thousand acres have burned in the Arbuckle Mountains area, forcing the evacuation of campers and some residents in the Turner Falls area.
Much of Oklahoma has been without rain throughout August and into September. All the state is under a burn ban.
Dry conditions and stiff winds have prompted authorities to advise Oklahomans that the danger of fires today is extremely high.
