Autistic boy drowns after wandering off

(Undated-AP) -- Seminole County authorities say a five-year-old autistic boy has drowned after wandering away from his baby sitter's home.

Undersheriff Joe Craig says Shane Hendryx was left with a relative while his parents went to a football game Saturday afternoon.

Craig says Shane wandered off when the baby sitter went to an outbuilding to get a motor bike.

Searchers looked for the boy in an area about six miles northeast of Seminole. Craig says Shane's tracks were spotted near a farm pond about a half-mile away from the baby sitter's house.

Searchers found his body late Saturday night in a six-foot deep pond.
