(Tulsa-AP) -- A Tulsa woman has been sentenced to serve 25 years in prison after pleading no contest to second-degree murder in the1999 death of her four-month-old son.
Twenty-three-year-old Patricia Lynn Sherrell struck a deal with prosecutors to have the charge stemming from the death of David Sherrell reduced from first-degree murder.
A Tulsa police officer testified a preliminary hearing that Sherrell admitted she was upset and crying when she jerked the baby out of his crib and shook him. That caused his head to hit the crib rail. A medical examiner determined that the baby died of a blunt-trauma head injury.
