(Nashville, Tennessee-AP) -- Charlotte Stout says she didn't get the apology she hoped for -- but says she's found peace in Robert Coe's death.

Early today, Coe became the first person executed in Tennessee in 40 years. He died by lethal injection for the rape and murder of Stout's eight-year-old daughter in 1979.

Stout says her daughter can now rest in peace. And she hopes her daughter's final words, "Jesus loves you," will not be forgotten.

Coe said that was the last thing the girl said to him before the killing.
