(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma residents are asking questions about Y-2-K. Among them -- will their toilets flush on New Year's Day, will their cars start, will their electricity still be on, will inmates walk out of jail.
The state Civil Emergency Management Department is fielding an array of questions and concerns. Oklahoma County and state officials say they've checked locks at jails and prisons and prisoners won't get out. Ben Frizzell, the emergency management public information officer, says residents should talk to their car dealers about whether their vehicles are ready to go for the new year. The state Corporation Commission has required utilities to be ready and have contingency plans.
