TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The arrest of a Tulsa man may lead to the uncovering of a local pornographic ring involving children, authorities said.
Truman Leon Wolery, 51, was being held on complaints of possessing child pornography and two counts of causing a minor to participate in obscene videotape.
Children as young as 6 and 13 were depicted in videos and pictures that police found. The boy and girl, who are siblings, have been identified and placed in state custody, authorities said.
"The pornography is being manufactured locally and distributed locally," said Tulsa Detective Liz Eagan. Details about the investigation or other possible arrests were not released.
Wolery, a deliveryman for a janitorial company, is accused of having tapes that showed him having sex with a girl at area hotels and inside a car as it was being driven around Tulsa. The tapes were made dating back to November 1995, reports show.
Wolery told police he knew the girl was a juvenile at the time the tapes were made, according to a police report. A boy as young as 6 also was depicted in pornography that officers seized.
Detectives said the interview with Wolery and other evidence indicated that they had uncovered a child pornography manufacturing and distribution network. Other details were not available.
"Most of the pornography was exchanged through the mail," said Sgt. Pat Calhoun. "They were apparently trying to keep a pretty low profile."
