A fatal crash in Tulsa's Woodward Park remains under investigation

Tulsa Police continue to investigate the death of a 16 year old boy in a car crash. Divin Sanchez was killed in Tulsa's Woodward Park over the weekend.

As if the family wasn't heart-broken enough, someone then stole Divin's body while it was in the hearse.

News on 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright says Tulsa Police accident scene investigators were back on the scene studying the skid marks left behind by the Pontiac Sunfire. A 16-year-old was behind the wheel, his passenger, 16-year-old friend, Divin Sanchez, a student at Edison High School.

Police believe the car was going about 45 miles an hour in a 10 mile an hour zone, hit the curb, flipped over and over, throwing Sanchez out the sunroof. A number of Edison students were at the park and saw it all. They created a make-shift memorial, writing notes on a sign, leaving a teddy bear, even writing on the pavement near the crash site, how much they will miss Sanchez and their sadness that he died too young.

Tulsa Police put a hold on the Pontiac Sunfire, no one is to touch it until they retrieve all the evidence. It shows the driver's side pretty banged up, but because the driver had on a seatbelt, he survived. Police say the worst part about this accident is Sanchez didn't have to die. The passenger side of the vehicle where Sanchez was sitting shows hardly any damage. Police say had he been wearing his seatbelt, he wouldn't have flown out of the sunroof.

To make matters worse, after the funeral service picked up Sanchez's body from crash scene, the hearse driver ran into his office for a few moments, leaving the car running and the keys in it. When he came back outside, someone had stolen the vehicle, body and all.

About 15 minutes later, officers got a call to a nearby Quik Trip, where the thief had abandoned the vehicle with Sanchez still inside.

Officers say they plan to request charges against the driver of the Pontiac Sunfire. They will first get a search warrant to remove the black box; data recorder from the car, that information will help them determine what type of charge.

Everyone the News on 6 talked to says Divin was a great kid, well-liked, good in school and he also two younger siblings.

His funeral is Wednesday.
