OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The state is adding two tests to the tests given to newborn babies.
Beginning Monday all newborns in the state will be tested for cystic fibrosis and a condition known as congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
Cystic fibrosis causes severe breathing problems and affect digestion. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia causes the body to lose water and salt and must be treated within a few weeks of birth to prevent death.
State health officials say the tests can save or improve the lives of up to 60 newborns each year.
