GIRARD, Kan. (AP) _ A Fairland man was killed when the gas tanker he was driving overturned near here and caught fire, authorities said.

Keith Leroy Martin, 56, was eastbound on Kansas Highway 39 around 9:55 a.m. Monday when his right front tire dropped off the roadway about 21 miles northwest of Girard, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.

Martin overcorrected and ran into the northside ditch after leaving the roadway, causing his tanker load to shift and the tanker and truck to overturn, troopers said.

The tanker caught fire and burned the truck.
