OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma County prosecutors say they'll appeal a judge's dismissal of illegal gambling charges against an attorney and six others.
Oklahoma County District Judge Vicki Robertson dismissed the charges against lawyer Charles Shadid and the others. The judge agreed that the defendant's right to a speedy trial was violated.
Shaded was accused of being the Apache Oak Cliff Indian Center in southeast Oklahoma City.
Police shut down the gaming hall in May 2002 after determining it was not actually on American Indian land.
Shadid and others involved in the gaming center were charged in November 2002.
Officials said then they wanted to use the case to shut down strip clubs and bars operated by Shadid.
