Friday some local kids got a special holiday treat, by going on an imaginary trip to the North Pole.

Students at Hodson Elementary in Owasso had their tickets punched and boarded a make believe Polar Express train, inside their school library. They were served hot cocoa and watched a video of "The Polar Express" with the illustrations straight from the book.

Library media specialist Leslie Smith: "We're also helping them learn that literature can come to life in more ways than just through reading a book, and that you can stage a book in a lot of different ways. So, I've chosen the Polar Express, so it will build a memory for them."

Smith says "The Polar Express" movie is a lot different from the book and she wanted her students to experience the original story.
