A Vici teenager and a Texas woman were killed in separate automobile accidents late Friday and early Saturday and authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver in one, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Katherine Johnson, 51, of Shiner, Texas, was killed by a hit-and-run driver just before 1:15 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 35 in Kay County, about five miles south of the Kansas state line, the patrol said.
Johnson was standing on the side of the interstate when she was hit by a car that left the scene, according to investigators.
Johnson had gotten out of her car, which was disabled and in the roadway after hitting a deer, when the second car hit her after swerving to avoid her car, the OHP said.
In an earlier accident, Rebecca Lea Poulson, 18, of Vici was killed just after 11:45 p.m. Friday in a one-car crash on a Dewey County road near Vici, troopers said.
The car Poulson was driving ran off the roadway, overcorrected and slid sideways into a post, then overturned twice, according to the OHP.
