We're one week away from unearthing a part of Tulsa's past. The 1957 Plymouth Belvedere buried under the Tulsa County Courthouse will be resurrected next Friday. Pictures of the burial have become a part of history. News On 6 anchor Scott Thompson has the story behind one of the most famous photos. He reports the three girls sitting on the Belvedere became the most memorable faces of that day, but the parents of one of the three says their family didn't just leave their mark on the hood, but the back bumper as well.

It's Edmond Schultz’s 82nd birthday, but he's remembering something that's just turning 50.

"It was a pretty good crowd,” said Edmond Schultz. “They was gathered all around there. It was a big crowd."

He and his wife are thumbing through photos taken five decades earlier. They still have the camera they used. Kids sitting on the hood of a car was a popular pose, but their daughter became a part of history. Her parents remember the details; she doesn't, like when little Lorraine was plucked from her father's shoulders to become one of Tulsa's most famous hood ornaments.

Edmond and Opal Lee Schultz snatched their daughter before the car went into the vault, but Edmond Schultz did leave something of his behind.

"I had a red feather, and I had a mouthful of gum, and I took that red feather and stuck it up under that back bumper," said Edmond Schultz.

"Talked to my son-in-law who's in the concrete business, and he said that gum will be like concrete, that it'll probably be there," said Opal Lee Schultz.

"I'm gonna check and see, if I can get that close!" Edmond Schultz said.

The Schultzes have tickets to the Belvedere's unearthing. They're sold out now, but you can have a front row seat.

News On 6 anchor Terry Hood will be anchoring an hour-long live special, a week from Friday, as Tulsa gets its first peek at the Belvedere in 50 years.

The Schultzes promise they'll be checking that bumper for their feather and chewing gum.
