FRESNO, Calif. (AP) _ Oklahoma Baptist wins the NAIA men's track and field title, the Bison's first national championship in the sport since 1990.
The Bison from Shawnee finished with 77 points, 19 ahead of three-time defending national champion Dickinson State of North Dakota.
OBU scored 16 of its points in one event, the 400-meter hurdles, led by Ross Harlan, who won the race in 50.99 seconds. Lamar Baskin finished third for the Bison.
The Bison also won the 4-by-100-meter relay in 40.32 seconds, using a team of Baskin, B.J. Bashorun, Dominique Matthews and Michael Rodgers.
Rodgers, who won the 100 meter-race in 10.21 seconds on Friday, finished second in the 200 meters yesterday in 20.95 seconds.
Rodgers and David Cheromei of Virginia Intermont were named as the meet's co-outstanding performers.
In the women's meet, OBU finished third with 55 points.
