Thirty years ago, the country was captivated by the story of three Oklahoma Girl Scouts, murdered at summer camp. No one was ever convicted of killing Doris Milner, Michelle Guse and Lori Farmer. Now, science could provide new clues. News On 6 anchor Scott Thompson reports parents say after 30 years, it's not a minute too soon.

Sheri Farmer's daughter Lori Farmer was murdered just days before her 9th birthday. Now, weeks before the 30th anniversary of her death, Sheri Farmer says the pain is as real as ever.

"It's different, but it's always there. And there is really not any closure," said Sheri Farmer.

No one has ever been convicted of her daughter's murder. Gene Leroy Hart was tried and acquitted. Eighteen years ago, Sheri Farmer got new hope when investigators turned to the revolutionary process of DNA testing.

Those first tests proved inconclusive, but science has exploded in the past 18 years. Investigators are reexamining the DNA with a new test that may finally give Sheri Farmer's family the answers they've been seeking for decades.

"I think it's a piece of the puzzle, and for 30 years, all my husband and I have wanted is the truth," she said.

Sheri Farmer says this could be the final DNA test. The OSBI lab says the test will use the last of the DNA sample from the scene. Sheri Farmer's sure she'll find answers.

"And if this doesn't provide an answer this time, maybe there'll be something else," she said.

Sheri Farmer says it's hard, especially now. Her family is all getting together for her first grandchild's high school graduation. While pictures show the parents her children grew up to be, one photo is frozen in time.

"We miss Lori, and when we're together in a time like this with our grandson's graduation, we realize we're not all here. You know, there's still someone missing who would have been a part of this family," said Sheri Farmer.

Even as a grandson graduates, Sheri Farmer says she'll still search for justice for the 8-year-old, forever frozen as her little girl.

Results from the DNA test could come as early as Friday.
