OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State higher education officials say they're hoping for more money from the state Legislature so they can keep potential tuition hikes low.

Tuition rates for Oklahoma's 25 colleges and universities rose an average of 5.2% this year even after the Legislature approved more than $1 billion for higher education.

The regents are now asking for $171 million more than that for the coming year.
