Police are on the lookout for a Muskogee man accused of gunning down a neighbor in his driveway. It happened just before 9 o'clock Thursday night. Police say the victim died on the way to the hospital. The News On 6’s Heather Lewin reports this is Muskogee's first homicide of the year.
Witnesses say there was a loud argument between the two men, then the suspect opened fire. Family members say 34-year-old Gary Orman was shot in the back as he walked away. Police say Orman was flown to a Tulsa hospital, but died in the helicopter on the way.
"He loved his kids and cherished his kids and his family. They meant the world to him," said the victim’s sister Mandy Wysel.
Police are looking for 20-year-old Bryan Russell, also known as Bryan DeNardo. Wysel used to be married to the suspect's uncle, and says the family doesn't know why the two were fighting.
Police aren't releasing much about the investigation, including a possible motive for the killing. An arrest warrant has been issued for Russell. Police say he and another man may be traveling in a Maroon 2000 Buick with a possible tag number of MIP-721.
Russell is considered armed and dangerous.
If you’ve seen Bryan Russell, or know his whereabouts call the Muskogee Crimestoppers at 918-682-2677.
