OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Floodwaters began slowly receding Sunday after two days of heavy rain sent some rivers and creeks over their banks.

The National Weather Service says flood warnings remained in effect Sunday for areas along the Cimarron River near Buffalo, and the East Cache Creek and Deep Red Creek in Cotton County.

Meteorologist John Pike says each of these rivers remained above flood stage early Sunday morning, but had already crested.

The East Cache Creek north of Walters remained more than five feet above flood level Sunday morning, but officials reported no roads in the area were closed.

Flood warnings were issued Saturday for Cotton, Harper, Jefferson, Kay, Kingfisher, Logan and Tulsa counties, but the countywide warnings had expired by Sunday morning.
