MIAMI (AP) _ Former Oklahoma State golfer Charles Howell III is in the mix after the opening round of the World Golf Championship event in Miami this week.

Howell shot a 3-under par 69 in the opening round and will start Friday's second round of the CA Championship two strokes off the lead.

Henrik Stenson and Robert Allenby both made 7-birdies and share the lead after shooting 67s.

Thomas Bjorn trails by 1-shot. Aaron Baddeley and Jose Maria Olazabal are tied with Howell for 4th place.

Ernie Els and Jim Furyk are in a group that's shot 68 and trail by 3.

Tiger Woods posted an opening 71 and Phil Mickelson soared to a 77.
