An old gas station will soon be surrounded by new cars again, in downtown Tulsa. The 1926, Phillips 66 station, is being restored and will become the home of an Avis Rent A Car office. The building is on the original Route 66 and will be renovated to look like it did back then.

"It's being restored to National Park Service standards, to its original state," said Downtown Developer Michael Sager. "We're rebuilding doors at enormous expense to be exactly like they were in the original, the original windows have been restored, there's not a physical change in the building from its original construction method."

Only four examples of this style of gas station are left standing. The national parks service is helping pay for the restoration.
