OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Ashton Pittman scored 22 points and Kelcey Houck added 11, including a free throw in the waning seconds of the game, to lead Washington to a 53-50 victory over Preston for the Class 2A girls state title.
Preston (28-1) trailed by as much as 12 points in the 3rd-quarter, but the Pirates trimmed the deficit to 2, 52-50, with 13.6 seconds on the clock Saturday.
After Houck sank one of two free throws, Washington kept the Pirates from getting off a potential game-tying shot at the buzzer.
The game was the only loss of the season for Preston, which was led by Sierra Cornwell's game-high 24 points.
