Opening statements were held Friday morning in Jason Nicholson's manslaughter trial in Tulsa County District Court. A jury in the case was seated on Thursday. Late Friday morning, the prosecutor began presenting his evidence in the case. The defense chose not to make an opening statement.
Jason Nicholson, a former bouncer, is charged with killing 23-year old Scott Bolton in a downtown Tulsa parking garage in 2004. Tulsa Police say Nicholson and another bouncer followed Bolton and a friend to the parking garage. Nicholson is accused of punching Bolton, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement. Bolton died five days later.
So far during the trial, prosecutors have called a expert to the stand to talk about the fall and how the injury could lead to death. They have also been reviewing a parking garage surveillance video for jurors.
The other former bouncer, Clay Spicer was originally charged as well, but was later cleared in the case.
