OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The state Veterans Affairs Department says it needs a new building to replace its aging building that has crumbling walls and a leaking roof.
The VA is pushing for a $38-million project that includes two new buildings. One would be headquarters for the department and the second would house veterans-related programs and services for state veterans.
VA Director Phillip Driskill says the current building is 70-years-old and its drains back up during storms and only monthly spraying keeps roaches from overrunning the place.
The plans also call for building a memorial park where various memorials to Oklahoma's military veterans would be moved.
