An Oklahoma based non-profit organization is sending hugs to American service members overseas.
The Hugs Project is dedicated to supporting the troops by keeping them connected to home. The group makes ties, hats, gloves, neck pillows and scarves, then ship them off to war.
Hugs Project founder Karen Stark says troops who receive these items always appreciate a little love from home, no matter who it's from.
"The thing we hear most often from the troops is that just support from strangers is a phenomenal feeling. It makes them feel better than just about anything."
The Tulsa Chapter of the Hugs Project is always on the lookout for more volunteers. The group meets the third Saturday of each month at Sewing Machines of Tulsa.
