TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Weeks after a blizzard crippled much of the state, some Oklahoma charities are still playing catch-up.

Several days of snow and ice the first weekend in December meant a $40,000 loss for the red kettle campaign at The Salvation Army in Tulsa, as most people stayed indoors rather than brave slick roads to shop.

That money is used to buy milk, chicken and other supplies for thousands of food baskets the charity will distribute to the poor beginning next week.
