Survey Predicts Strong Job Growth In Tulsa, Less So In Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A survey of business managers in Tulsa and Oklahoma City indicate more jobs will be available in the state's two largest cities during the first three months of next year.

Hiring managers in Tulsa are the most optimistic with 50 percent of those surveyed by Manpower Employment Outlook saying they expect to add jobs. Another 37 percent expect no change in staffing.

In Oklahoma City 30 percent of hiring managers are expecting to add workers during the first three months of the year while 57 percent expect no change. But 13 percent say they're planning to eliminate jobs during the same time period.

The survey blames the slower job growth in Oklahoma City on the closing this year of the G-M plant in the city and the pending closing of the Dayton Tire plant.
