COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) A house fire early Friday killed three children and an adult, but six others managed to escape, a fire official said.

The youngest victim was just 2 weeks old. The others were 1, 4 and 19 years old, said Doug Smith, a battalion chief for the Columbus Division of Fire.

``They were all in one room upstairs on the second floor,'' Smith said.

Ten people were inside the house when the fire started and six escaped, he said.

Authorities did not know the cause of the fire, which was reported about 5:30 a.m.
