Shoppers on Memorial Drive could experience even more bumper to bumper traffic starting next week.
The Wal-Mart Supercenter by Woodland Hills Mall opens October 18th. It's expected to attract thousands of additional shoppers to the area each day.
To help ease congestion, traffic engineers will change the timing on traffic lights along Memorial. They say the change will mean more green lights for drivers, but traffic will always be an issue in south Tulsa.
Traffic operations manager Kurt Kraft: "this is the biggest commercial area developed in the town, so it's just something we're always going to have to deal with."
The city of Tulsa says the new timing system on Memorial will be in place by the holiday shopping season.
