AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Texas ended an embarrassing losing streak to Oklahoma last year. Now the Longhorns would like to start a winning one.

With Division 1AA Sam Houston State disposed of 56-to-3 the Longhorns quickly turn their attention to the annual Dallas matchup with OU.

Texas had lost five straight to the Sooners before last year when a dominating performance by the Longhorns led to a Texas win and the Longhorns went on to win the national championship.

Since 1999 the winner of this game has won the South Division title and played for the conference championship six times. The exception was 2001 when Oklahoma beat Texas but then lost two games.

Texas has won a Big 12 record 16 consecutive conference games.

The last defeat was 12-0 loss to Oklahoma in 2004.

Saturday will mark the first time since 1999 that neither team is undefeated entering the game. At least one of the teams has been ranked in the top 10 each year since 2000.
