NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma students who think they're good enough to be on the school's basketball team will have a chance to prove it next month.
First year OU men's basketball coach Jeff Capel says his staff will hold a walk-on tryout on October 15th.
The tryout is open to all male OU students. Candidates must stop by the men's basketball office at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman prior to October 10th to acquire the necessary paperwork.
The 31 year old Capel went 79-41 with one NCAA tournament berth in 4 seasons at Virginia Commonwealth before taking the Oklahoma job on April 11th.
Former Oklahoma coach Kelvin Sampson left on March 29th to become the head coach at Indiana. Sampson was 279-109 in 12 seasons with the Sooners, including a trip to the Final 4 in 2002.
