Tulsa Police officers responded to a burglary call at the Desert Hills Motel at 11th and Yale around 6AM Wednesday.
When officers arrived at the scene, they say the suspect tried to hide from them behind a door. Police say the man then tried to escape by using a soda can wrapped in his t-shirt as a weapon.
The man was caught just a few blocks away near 7th and Erie. Tulsa Police say the suspect's capture was thanks in part to the help of Good Samaritan, News on 6 Photojournalist Gary Kruse.
Tulsa Police officer Jay Jones: "I told him to put his hands on the wall, he turned around and started running. And we chased him 4 or 5 blocks. And finally with a little bit of your help, we got him in custody."
The suspect faces several charges.
