MAUD, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities say a police officer in Maud shot and killed a man who had taken two children hostage in a house.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown says the man had a knife and charged the officer Monday night.

Brown says her agency is investigating the shooting, and will interview the officer and witnesses. She confirmed the victim died, but could not confirm the man's name.
