ENID, Okla. (AP) Enid police say a man was killed when he stepped out in front of the vehicle of a man who was trying to give him a ride home.
Police Captain Jim Nivison says officers responding to a call of a body lying on a roadway found David Allen Poslick about 12:43 AM Thursday.
Nivison says Nicholas Patton left the scene of the accident but showed up at the police department about 30 minutes later. Patton was booked into jail on complaints including leaving the scene of a fatality accident and failing to render aid.
Nivison says a preliminary investigation indicates Patton and another person were taking Poslick home after he reportedly consumed alcohol.
He says the vehicle made a wrong turn, and after a verbal altercation, Poslick got out and apparently stepped off the curb into the path of Patton's moving car.
Patton was given a blood-chemical test after he went to the police station to report his involvement in the accident but results weren't immediately available.
