OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A sandblasting company has been fined $62,550 dollars for safety violations by the US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Cunningham Sandblasting and Painting Company received the fine after an investigation at a company worksite on US Highway 60 in Nowata.
The company was issued citations for two alleged willful and 17 serious safety violations following an OSHA inspection that began December 20th.
Officials say employees were painting the inside of a water tower without the use of respiratory equipment, exposing workers to a hazardous condition.
Some of the alleged serious violations include failure to provide cages on ladders and repair damaged scaffolding.
