OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Governor Brad Henry Monday signed into a law a measure intended to strengthen Oklahoma's anti-meth law.

The legislation establishes a statewide online database to connect pharmacies and help make sure customers abide by a law limiting the amount of cold medicines that contain pseudoephedrine they can buy. Pseudoephedrine is a key ingredient in making methamphetamine.

The law limiting the amount that can be bought also says only pharmacies can sell cold tablets containing the ingredient. Customers must produce a photo ID and sign for the sale.

Law enforcement authorities say the law has reduced the number of meth labs found in the state by 80 percent since it went into effect just over a year ago.
