There are some odd roadside attractions in Oklahoma.

A viewer alerted the News on 6 to new shoe tree that has sprung up next to the Muskogee Turnpike. News on 6 reporter Rick Wells went looking for it in Wagner County.

If you're on the Muskogee Turnpike, heading toward Tulsa just before you get to Broken Arrow you might have seen it. In fact Peggy Willard from Muskogee sent me a letter "Have you seen the tree with the tennis shoes hanging all over it"

So we drove out there and sure enough I went down to look there's about two dozen pair of shoes in that tree, now that's odd. There are some flip flops and boots, but mostly sneakers. Lots of Adidas, Adidas seems to be the fruit of choice in this shoe tree. I guess people don't carve names in trees anymore, they write them on shoes. Candice and Rykle for ever, someone loves Tyler.

Last spring, News on 6 anchor Scott Thompson discovered what the sign says is the Route 66 shoe tree down near Stroud. They're not unique to Oklahoma, there are shoe trees in California and Arizona and one up in British Columbia.

You can't come to a young shoe tree without making a contribution, my lawn mowing shoes. Up and over they go. Now I've got to find some new lawn mowing shoes.

You can find the tree on the north side of the Muskogee Turnpike, between the Creek Turnpike overpass and the Kenosha exit.
