OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Cell phone customers of AT&T wireless in parts of Oklahoma are now customers of Alltel Corporation.
Little Rock-based Alltel says it's closed on a $165-million deal to buy AT&T Wireless properties in Oklahoma, McClain, Cleveland, Pottawatomie, Canadian, Lincoln, Logan, Payne, Pawnee, Noble, Kay and Grant counties.
Alltel is also buying AT&T Wireless properties in Sherman-Denison, Texas; Owensboro and Fulton, Kentucky; Ylobusha, Mississippi; and Litchfield, Connecticut, as part of the deal.
Alltel spokesman Andrew Moreau says the company will begin contacting customers to let them know of the changes and services available.
The announcement comes a day after Verizon Wireless announced plans to expand into the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas.
