OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- About half of $400,000 in college scholarship money in Oklahoma goes unclaimed each year.
The Oklahoma Heritage Association offers the scholarships to students who compete for the money by taking a multiple-choice test.
Heritage Association education director Gini Campbell says many students may not be aware of the program.
Students compete against each other within their county and each county has a specific number of scholarships and tuition waivers. Campbell says most counties have at least three awards.
The students can earn up to $1,000 scholarships and a $1,000 tuition waiver through the competition.
