Some of Santa's special helpers made a surprise delivery to a Tulsa elementary school Tuesday afternoon.
News on 6 anchor Terry Hood says it is school where some may go without this Christmas, making Tuesday's surprise mean that much more.
While the kids were performing at the annual holiday program at the Penn Elementary School at 2138 East 48th Street North, a special guest was waiting backstage.
Straight from the North Pole, Santa Claus made an early visit, and surprised each and every Penn student with Christmas presents. We were there when some pre-kindergarteners got brand new Barbie dolls, race cars and teddy bears, all thanks to Kimberly-Clark.
Employees from the paper company's Jenks location collected the gifts and a few were on hand to see kids take hold of their brand new toys. Julia Bahlman with Kimberly-Clark: "You could just see their eyes light up as soon as Santa hit the stage today."
Grandmother Rose Hurd: "The majority of them were very surprised. They didn't even know Santa was coming at all, so they were very happy."
Parents got a surprise at Tuesday's program too, thanks to Penn Elementary School’s Partner in Education - AIR Products. Santa sent 10 parents home with a gift certificate for $50 worth of groceries.
