OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The state Department of Human Services says it has a record number of foster children who need Christmas presents this year -- but the number of corporate donors is down.
A DHS spokeswoman says the pending closing of the General Motors plant in Oklahoma City means other volunteers will have to be found for the 200 children GM has sponsored in the past. And Tinker Air Force Base has collected gifts for about 250 children, half of the 500 the base usually provides although Lieutenant Christi Foxworth says donations are increasing as the holiday approaches.
DHS provided Christmas gifts to 92-hundred children statewide last year.
